The Red City By Mark A. Hadley – Like a Long Forgotten Myth

Book Cover: The Red City By Mark A. Hadley – Like a Long Forgotten Myth

This book grabbed me from the start as the narrator set its lush tone and described its mythic setting, the buildings of the dead city of Vennolandua. They were deep red, the color of dried blood. Block by block they had been hewn from the bedrock on which the metropolis rested. Sagged might be a better word. The rich, textured descriptions only get better as the author draws the reader into a mystery that reads like an extended, enigmatic parable, or some long forgotten myth, which read anew, compels the reader to pledge himself to the fate of its young hero and follow. If you like a mystery wrapped in ancient ruins and planted in the heart of a brave boy, Mark A. Hadley’s The Red City is for you.
